Web design process · Morgantown, WV How the lights come on.

Four phases, from the first conversation to launch. This is how a typical project runs; the scope, price and schedule for yours are set out in your project agreement.

  1. 01

    Discovery

It starts with a conversation about the business you already run.

    Your part: one conversation

We talk through your business, your customers, and what the site needs to accomplish. From that comes a written proposal: what is being built, and one fixed price for it.

Leads to: A written scope and a fixed price

  2. 02

    Design

You see the direction and approve it before anything is built.

    Your part: feedback

The look and layout of the site are worked out and shared with you for feedback, usually through your client portal, where a feedback box sends your notes straight to us. The number of revision rounds is written into your agreement. The build does not start until you have approved the direction.

Leads to: A design you have approved

  3. 03

    Build

The quiet part. The approved design becomes a working site.

    Your part: final content

The approved design becomes a working website: custom coded, optimized, and checked at phone, tablet and desktop sizes before launch. You can follow progress in the portal, and you review the finished site on a private link before anything goes live.

Leads to: A working site on a private link, ready for your review

  4. 04

    Launch

    Lights on.

    Your part: approve and go

Once you have approved the site and the final balance is paid, it goes live on your domain. A 30-day fix window follows for anything that is broken, and ongoing care is there if you want it.

Leads to: Your site live, and yours

This page describes how a project typically runs. The order and the detail are adapted to each project, and nothing here is a promise of a particular step or deliverable. What we commit to for your project — scope, price, revision rounds and dates — is written in your project agreement, and that document is what governs.

Agreed with you, in writing

Your project runs on its own clock.

The night on this page is a picture, not a schedule.

No two projects run on the same clock, so no number of weeks is published here. Your target dates are worked out from your scope and written into your project agreement. They are estimates, not guarantees: they move with how quickly content, feedback and approvals come back, and with any change to the scope.

After the lights come on.

30 Days of Free Fixes

For 30 days after launch, anything that is broken gets fixed at no charge: a link that goes nowhere, a form that does not send, a page that displays wrongly, a feature that does not do what your agreement says it does. The window covers faults. It does not cover changes — a new look or layout, new pages, features or content, or a redesign are new work, quoted separately. Your project agreement sets out exactly what is covered. Questions are always free to ask.

Ongoing Support (Optional)

A Care & Hosting plan adds managed hosting, backups, monitoring, and small updates for a monthly fee, quoted with your estimate. Or run the site yourself — nothing about it requires us.

Yours to keep

On a custom site, the site is yours on final payment (Groundwork clients keep their site after twelve paid months). If you run it yourself, a handover pack comes at launch: where it lives, how to get in, and how to update it. On a Care & Hosting plan, you get it whenever you move the site. No vendor lock-in. Everything is yours to control.
